pledges to bring jobs to Delaware
Delaware would become the hub of regional wind farm development if a proposed wind farm off Rehoboth Beach gets the go-ahead. Lt. Gov. John Carney announced Thursday, Jan. 31, that Babcock and Brown, parent company of Bluewater Wind, has agreed to import turbines through the Port of Wilmington and to build an operations center, possibly in the Milford area. A Delaware-based training center may also be needed. "This is a great opportunity to make Delaware a central part of the wind power industry and to get the state in on the ground floor of an industry with a huge upside-growth potential," Carney said. The environmental benefits of wind power are well known, he said. But beyond stable prices, the economic benefits have so far appeared less apparent.

Profile: Guy Hands
He's invested in deals where others haven't seen value, and the whole nature of those investors is that sometimes they get it right and sometimes they get it wrong. Guy has obviously seen some value at EMI." The big question, as much for the listening public as for the rockers who have had it so good for so long, is where? Founded in 1931 as Electrical and Musical Industries, EMI has been one of the glories of the British entertainment scene, boasting on its roster the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Queen and the Sex Pistols. But the good times ended long ago, and the company's recent history has been a succession of crises. In 2001, it signed Mariah Carey, the five-octave human wonder, to a record breaking, five-album contract, but after her first effort flopped had to pay her £35 million to go away again.

Fans make an early exit as new boss takes over
Although there were no rousing renditions of Nigel Pearson's red and white army,' those present did get behind the side for the first 30 minutes. Some positive play and evidence of a willingness to close the opposition down gave encouragement to the supporters. Yet the mood markedly changed thanks to a horrific two- minute spell. When Plymouth's Peter Halmosi slammed in his side's first, after 31 minutes, following Andrew Surman's errant pass, the restlessness that has become all too familiar at St Mary's this season reappeared. The home support was swiftly taunted with cries of There's only one Paul Sturrock' from the Plymouth faithful. Just two minutes later, some fans decided they could take no more. As Jim Paterson curled home past a bemused Kelvin Davis, a cacophony of boos rang around the ground, followed by the incredible sight of a stream of fans heading for the exits.
