CFFEX approves 13 new members

The China Financial Futures Exchange (CFFEX) announced the fourth group of members on Monday. Including the 13 new members, the total number of CFFEX member brokers is now 52, accounting for about one third of all of China's futures brokers.

Analysts believe continuous expansion of the membership indicates accelerated preparations for the launch of the country's first financial futures products based on the CSI 300 index.

Two of the 13 new members - Donghai and Everbright - have been granted full clearing rights . Six of them are trading and clearing brokers: Topwin, Henan Wanda, Haitong, Shanghai Tonglian, Shanghai Zhonggu, and China Merchants. Five are trading members: Chuangyuan, Hengyin, SC, Zhujiang and Zhejiang Tiandi.

As of yesterday, of the total 52 CFFEX members, seven are full clearing brokers, 27 are trading and clearing brokers, and 18 are trading members.

Overview: Risk aversion boosts gold

Financial markets received a grim reminder of global geopolitical risk on Thursday as the assassination of the Pakistani opposition leader Benazir Bhutto helped fuel demand for the relative safety of gold, US Treasury bonds and the Swiss franc.

The nervous mood in the markets was heightened by the release of much weaker than expected US durable goods orders data, which triggered fresh worries about the global economic outlook.

After receiving the contract, you have a 10-day cooling off period to change your mind. If you have any doubts about enrolling, do it quickly – and in writing.

Once the cooling off period has ended, the retailer will contact you by phone to see if you still want to go ahead. This call will be recorded and used as evidence against you if you change your mind later about signing a fixed-price contract.

You don't have to reaffirm by phone if you contacted the retailer asking to be signed up, responded to a direct mail campaign or signed an online agreement.

Once you agree (or your spouse agrees) by phone to go ahead, you probably can't get out without paying a fee. The early cancellation charge can be quite onerous – as high as $2,617.91 for one reader who has electric heating.

Thieves in the Nigerian Senate

When a corpse comes hurrying to burial with an erect penis, then something is absolutely wrong. Not only that this has all the ingredients of an abominable embarrassment, the corpse is not heading home pretty soon. If he receives an interment, the odours of gossip would ensure his eternal insomnia in the memories of the living. At the dawn of time, long before the birth of taboo, the coffin was already on record as advising the corpse to relax, and make itself comfortable because their journey and alliance is going to be a very long one. Both of them are marching to eternity together. And that is some pretty, long, unending time. Hurrying to get there is not only a waste of time; it is immortal inconvenience. But be that as it may, a corpse sporting a penile erection is not yet ready, or qualified for this journey.

Obama, McCain declared winners in primaries (2nd Roundup)

A self-important bully in Venezuela threatens to cut off oil shipments to our country at a time of sky-rocketing gas prices. Each event poses a challenge and an opportunity. Will the next President have the experience, the judgment experience informs, and the strength of purpose to respond to each of these developments in ways that strengthen our security and advance the global progress of our ideals? Or will we risk the confused leadership of an inexperienced candidate who once suggested invading our ally, Pakistan, and sitting down without pre-conditions or clear purpose with enemies who support terrorists and are intent on destabilizing the world by acquiring nuclear weapons? The most important obligation of the next President is to protect Americans from the threat posed by violent extremists who despise us, our values and modernity itself.

Finally in the spring of 1981 a break in the case led to the arrest of Frederick "Kevin" Coe whose father happened to be the managing editor of the Spokane Daily Chronicle newspaper. After two trials and having served 25-years in prison, Coe is scheduled to be released this September. Now state prosecutors are looking at filing a civil case that could keep Coe behind bars for the rest of his life.

-The worst month for sports is what were going through right now. The NBA is hitting the mid-season and there is yet to be any real excitement. You have the NFL that just got over a month ago, and yes, we're all sad because that marks the end of football for another 6-7 months. College Football recruiting is always fun, but we all know that in a sense it is just a waiting game that is boring. We have College Basketball hitting conference schedules real hard which is truely fun to watch, but we then enter the conference tournaments and they mean nothing. MLB isen't even heard of in this month, and NASCAR has qualifying on the week before Daytona. Isen't that just interesting. The month of February is a complete let-down. This month is almost worthless in the world of sports. I mean, the NBA season may be shaping up, but there is another 40 games to be played.

Bush Admits Economy Faces Challenges

We cannot take growth for granted," Mr. Bush said in a speech to a group of business leaders in which he acknowledged that "recent economic indicators have become increasingly mixed."

But even after a government report on Friday that showed unemployment jumped to 5 percent last month from 4.7 percent in November, Mr. Bush stopped short of warning that the nation may be about to enter a recession.

Democrats in Congress and on the campaign trail echoed the president's sobering view. With a number of analysts now predicting that an economic downturn could be imminent, both Mr. Bush and Congressional Democratic leaders say they are considering whether a rescue package is necessary to counter the threat of a recession, in which economic activity declines and joblessness increases over an extended period of time.
