| US STOCKS-Futures point to flat open, Yahoo eyed
NEW YORK, Feb 11 (Reuters) -U.S. stock index futures were little changed on Monday as concerns about the health of the global economy nagged, while technology shares could be in focus with Yahoo Inc expected to reject a takeover bid from Microsoft Corp. Yahoo (YHOO.O: Quote, Profile, Research) was set to reject Microsoft's (MSFT.O: Quote, Profile, Research) unsolicited bid, now worth $42 billion, as too low, a source familiar with the situation said on Saturday in the first clear signal that the board might be prepared to negotiate and sell the company. In European trading, shares of Yahoo (YHOO.F: Quote, Profile, Research) rose 3.2 percent. Finance leaders from the Group of Seven major economies said at the weekend that the crumbling U.S. housing market had hurt the world economy and that conditions may worsen as debt-laden banks clamp down on credit.

Biofuel firm cancels IPO
Imperium Renewables canceled its $345 million initial public offering Thursday in a move that came as little surprise. For one thing, the industry's financial underpinnings have, in one analyst's words, "severely deteriorated in recent months." For another, it lost its chief executive two weeks ago. The Seattle company, which last summer began operating the largest U.S. biodiesel facility in Grays Harbor, blamed "unfavorable market conditions" for the IPO's withdrawal. Imperium may instead seek private financing, according to a document filed Thursday with the Securities and Exchange Commission. A spokesman said the company wouldn't comment on future plans right now. Imperium, which filed the IPO in May, had counted on using the money to build a string of similar facilities across the globe.
JFK’s Torch for Obama
He refuses to de-fund the war or set any time limits on it. He is against single-payer health care reform or anything resembling fair taxation. He has never put himself on the line for anything. His mindset is clearly the middle-of-the-road, don't rock the boat, protect the elite mindset that has controlled American politics since FDR. Using a little polish on a broken down pair of sneakers will not turn them into patent leather dancing shoes, and the endorsements of a few members of America's broken down royalty won't make Obama a progressive. Come on, guys. The man hasn't suddenly changed. What has changed is that, once again, the left is being suckered into supporting a center-right "liberal" because he's the best we can get. I'm just not buying that crap. Just being better than Hillary does not make a candidate palatable.
Demand will be focus of wheat market for near term
In fact, with Chinese soybean crops declining due to adverse growing conditions, demand is forecast to remain strong and improve into February 2008.Brazil and Argentina currently are planting their crops under virtually ideal weather conditions. Note, Brazil and Argentina store little to no excess grain, as storage elevators are absent from the countryside, not like here in the U.S.Grain goes from field to port, which means they need to forward contract, or pre-sell their crop before it's harvested to insure it doesn't pile up on the farm. This means South America will post their price for beans under any U.S. price to insure they capture the export business, as there is nowhere to store it.From the start of the U.S. harvest in October until South American soybean harvest in March, is the big demand window for U.S.
